Wet n Wild Craze Nail Lacquer in Nocturnal is the shit right now. It is THE shit.

It’s fall, and I freaking love fall because of this whole dark, vampy make-up thing. I don’t know why. I wouldn’t consider myself vampy or gothic or emo. I just think it’s freaking cool.

BUT ANYWAY. This color is THE shit because it’s like you colored your nails with pen ink. Which sounds weird. But the fact that this color isn’t quite navy and isn’t quite black makes it the shit. The payoff is amazing – ONE COAT makes your nails opaque.

These ain’t yo momma’s nails.

“Independence”

There is that huuuge reason why so many kids want to go to college so bad. No parents, living on your own, doing things yourself, being a [semi-]independent individual… being an ADULT.

But what use is that independence when you can’t do anything for yourself?

Moving on up here in San Francisco, I’ve seen and met so many people who have yearned for the chance to finally become an “adult”, yet they are completely dependent. The only cooking they’ve done is shove a frozen, processed dinner in the microwave (and depending on who you talk to, that doesn’t count as cooking at all). They have NO idea how to load a washer. They don’t have any idea how to clean, either… and forget about looking for a job. Their best reference is probably someone they’ve bedded in the last week.

Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’ve been “graced” with a mom as the constantly working, constantly tired sole provider for the family, so I’ve learned to do things myself. Or maybe I’ve just been “graced” with the do-it-yourself attitude, so I’ve just wanted to do it myself.

But I really can’t fathom how anyone can go through 18 years of their life and not learn how to do ANYTHING for themselves. And I, if I may stand on this virtual soap box here, believe that if you don’t know how to boil pasta, if you don’t know how to mop up or vacuum your own floor, and if you don’t even know how to pack your own suitcase for college… you’ve still got a lot of growing up to do.

Class of 2010, you’ve got roughly a year how to learn. Amongst college applications, filling out your FAFSA, and trying to survive your senior year, I believe you’ve still got time to learn how to survive in the real world… so get started now. Go get ‘em, kids.

Observation

My bad… I haven’t updated in over a month. I guess I’ve been pretty busy.
I’m settled into my SF home now. It’s great living here… the abundance of people in the house keeps it from being too quiet. I can’t stand quiet; that’s why I moved into the city.

Independence is both a blessing and a curse here.

I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, as long as I don’t get myself into trouble, know where I’m going and know what I’m doing. Also, as long as I get my priorities straight and my stuff done. Which I’ve got a good handle on for now. School… is always first. That’s why I’m here, right?

But I am in serious need of financial aid. There are virtually no jobs here that I can take.

I went to my first rush event tonight for Sigma Omicron Pi, which was actually a great experience. I’m hoping I can join these girls and have a great time and a great college experience, because what they’ve got seems amazing.

School… well it’s just great to be learning again.

I come back home this Friday… until Tuesday… HAHAHA. What am I going to do with myself?

I went house-hunting with some guys on Sunday (which was interesting). Found a house that we like, hope we can get into it…

I got my laptop back today… very much enjoy having my own technological amenities again.

I can’t wait for school to start. Actually, I can, because I need a place to live first. But talking about moving and classes starting is exciting :D

It’s summer. I can’t get enough of sunscreen. So sue me, I don’t want skin cancer.

The best. Tried and true. Non-greasy, absorbs quickly.

Tried and true, in spray form. No rubbing, but be careful so that you don’t spray fumes in someone’s way. This is 55% denatured alcohol.

You can’t leave the lips out. Sunburnt lips do not feel good. Ever. This stuff feels good and it’s SPF 20, though it needs some reapplication ‘cos it goes away fast.

This feels really nice. It’s not too dry for my face like the Neutrogena sunblock, but it’s not greasy feeling like this Eucerin Everyday Protection Face Lotion SPF 15.

And if you DO have the misfortune of getting burned, Fix+ really does the job of cooling and soothing it. But if you need something more soothing than that…

Get yourself an aloe plant. The stuff in the bottle can’t beat it straight from the source.

And now you’re covered head-to-toe!
